Yet another amazing nights for Cubs and Scouts in the District!
The races were once again close this year and the positions in the Cub Final were not decided until the final race. So well done 1st Cuckfield who came first, 1st Lindfield A who came 2nd and 10th Haywards Heath A who came 3rd.
In the Scout final 10th Haywards Heath strengthened their strangle hold on the Trophy by winning all seven of the finals! So it was who would come Runners up. This took the final race to decide with 1st Lindfield A coming 2nd and 1st Hassocks A coming 3rd.
Out thanks go to Kenny Butler who presented the Shields to both winning teams. Kenny has recently been made Joint President of Mid Sussex District Scouts and this was his first official engagement
From the noise made it sounded like everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as any discussions were “drowned out” by the encouragement. As feared the acoustics in the main pool area were still poor even with their updated system. It appeared that the suggestion of photographing the Finals Race card appeared to work especially for those poolside but we would be interested if any of the spectators benefitted.
The Organising Team (SAS and District Team) found it very rewarding to see the young people doing their best and parents supporting their individual Groups from the viewing gallery.
Talking about supporting, just to say a big thank you for everyone's contribution last night including the many raffle prizes from all the groups plus the many who delved deeply in their pockets for the raffle. Those Explorers and Scouts going to the World Jamboree in the United States wish to express their thanks for the opportunity to fundraise with the raffle. It was a great team building experience for them. They did a great job and had fun too as well as raising approx. £880. A good start for further fundraising
Any feedback regarding the event would be welcome including those about the venue would also be welcome as we can pass these back to the Triangle management as well.
Once again thanks for a great night and feel free to forward it on to those I have missed off the circulation list.
